Two years ago I was introduced to a woman at a barbecue who’s a secretary for a funeral home. We were standing there eating and I casually mentioned my idea of putting marquees on funeral homes like movie theaters to display the names and showtimes.
She said that it was in kind of bad taste. I asked if she was talking about the pasta salad on her plate because I brought it and thought I might have misread the vinegar part of the recipe.
She walked over to the hosts and joined their conversation.
